Northern New England’s Premier Book Fair, in it’s 46th rendition, held at the Everett Arena in Concord, NH on June 3 & 4, 2022 is not just coming to life, it will bring to life your biggest desires and fantasies by your favorite authors illustrators and subjects.
Yes, we have persevered the past two years and the dealers are coming back with the best collections of books you will find anywhere. In addition there will be more dealers than ever before. For the first time there will be a Friday evening opening and more time to search for you special wants and needs again on Saturday.
The Northern New England event is the only Bookfair held in the state and has become a landmark event in it’s 46th year. Forty plus booksellers from all over New England will present their offerings and be available to help in selecting the best possible books for you to take home. With over 40,000 books and ephemera items to choose from the variety of subjects and authors is fantastic.
The Northern NE Bookfair is pleased to announce that the Abbott-Downing Historical Society, of Concord, will be exhibiting doing a fund raiser for their new museum space. They will be selling books & CD’s and offering an educational program during the show. Additional programming is still to be determined.
The Abbott-Downing Historical Society, which is based in Concord, NH, has an ambitious new fundraiser and the members have named it in honor of Rick and Ron Shaw, known as the Shaw Brothers. Rick’s song, “The Ballad of the Concord Coach”, tells the history of the coaches that were built by the Abbott, Downing Company starting in 1827. And Ron’s song, “Lucy Come Ride in my Wagon”, tells a little of the personal story of Lewis and Lucy Downing and in tandem with Rick’s “Ballad of the Concord Coach", it helps to round out the story of these special modes of transportation through music.
You will find all the New England authors one could hope to find... including, Harriet Beecher Stowe, Mark Twain, Donald Hall, Robert Frost, Tasha Tudor, Edward Rowe Snow, Kenneth Roberts, May Sarton, Sarah Orne Jewett, Cecilia Thaxter, Elizabeth Yates, Elizabeth Orton Jones, Barbara Cooney, Tomie dePaola, Joseph Lincoln, Stephen King, Dan Brown, and hundreds of other local authors.
Collections of books will include, Fantasy and science fiction, classic fiction, modern novels, historical books and ephemera from the 1600’s to the 21st century, original documents on temperance, abolitionist, women’s rights, gay rights, reproductive rights, cookbooks, and in addition you will discover books on nautical history, witchcraft, rock’n roll, 50’s, 60’s, 70’s, 80 cultural material, military history, civil war, leather bound sets, and printing history are just a few of the many subjects to be found.
And for the young and young at heart a large selection Childrens illustrated and children’s series will be found. Beside the frequently sought Nancy Drews, Hardy Boy’s, Cherry Ames, and Tom Swift. Christmas stories and holiday books, beautiful illustrated books by N C Wyeth, Maxfield Parrish, Jessie Wilcox Smith, Trina Schart Hyman, Howard Pyle, Edmund Dulac, Kay Nielsen, Rockwell Kent, and many more will on tables for you to hold and view for your pleasure.
